My first day at bamajam, my tent and booth was ready to go. A few hours into it, my model called me to say she was there and ready to start helping out. So I met her outside to give her the ticket to get in the show. Right when we were getting ready to go in there, they said everyone needed to be evacuated because of a big storm coming in. So I told her to stay in the car for the moment til the storm passed and we can reconvene after. While I went back to the booth thinking it will only be about 30 minutes and the storm will pass. I was wrong!! The storm went on for over an hour. At the time, i saw everyone else putting up tarps and covering their tent. So I did the same thing. Now that I think about it, I should have threw all my clothes into the bins. Because after putting up the tarps, the storm got worse. It got to the point I had to duck and cover under the table. I was holding the table. Not long after that, the tent flew and the table I was holding onto flew as well. I was so worried I was in a tornado. Right after that I saw the tent to my right flew away too and the tent to my left was still in tact. So i found an opening in that tent and jumped in there. That had to be one of the scariest moments in my life, not knowing if I was going to fly into the air by a tornado or whatever was happening. Luckily the storm ended up passing and I was ok. Alot of my inventory got messed up but I still had enough in my storage bins to continue. For a brief moment, I wanted to pack it up. But I thought, no point. I'm here and alive and well, my spirit was down a little bit, but we still have 2 days of selling to do. I talked to another guy and he lost everything. $4000 in products and excludes the cost it took him to come to Bamajam, etc. I hope he is able to comeback from this fiasco at another event. I took whatever clothes I could salvage and threw it in my car. And thought about getting ready for the next day. I went out and bought a new tent, etc.
When I showed up the next day, my setup was taken up by my neighbors, the "Hook'd Up" clothing line. So I asked what was going on, and they said they moved us. So we had a new location and setup. Which ended up being a blessing. The very first 5 minutes of trying to setup, we had our banners up and 2 ladies came up and was curious about our brand. They said they would wait for us to bring out our collection. So within that time we sold our first 2 shirts and we would sell many more the rest of the weekend. Thank you so much to everyone who bought something from us. The early support shows us we are on the right track towards building our brand. Please check out our Bamajam pictures... the story of the guy in the improv photo shoot will be posted in a bit. He was awesome!
I know I haven't blogged for a minute. But just got back from Bamajam today and went and had fathers day dinner. But I will write about what happened at Bamajam. But here is a sneak peek at the craziest and best moment at Bamajam. This guy was the highlight of the weekend!! Thanks so much for having fun with our PiLLOOHS!!
This is my first blog, and I've never been crazy about posting up about what is going on in my life. But I always felt like I had a little "writer" in me. So here it goes....
Lots of Stuff Going On!!
Lots of cool news going on. The past month I got accepted to the Atlanta Greek Step Show & Picnic. Can't wait to see everyone next week Fri and Sat. I also got accepted to BAMAJAM in Enterprise, Alabama!! This is a concert fest with Tim McGraw, Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock and 40+ other artists. Wouldn't it be cool if Kid Rock saw my PiLLOOHS line and wanted to put his head on some??? What he needs to do is bring his EX Pamela Anderson because Pamela's PiLLOOHS would be nice to twitter about. This will be my biggest venue up to date. I'm not sure what to expect but it's going to be interesting. Can't believe I'm a part of this line up below.
Metallic Butterflies just got pressed!
So my "Metallic Butterflies" design just got pressed and was pretty excited to see all my hours on Illustrator payoff. I'm not that good of a designer but with the help of my girlfriend, she told me what girls like in the designs. So overall, I just did what she said and that's why it came out so good.
Craigslist and walking thru the mall
So I posted on craigslist I was wanting a promotions/events model for the Greek Fest and Bamajam. I was disappointed at some of the responses I got for the Greek Fest. Atlanta didn't represent the way I was hoping. Some of them didn't read what PiLLOOHS was all about and even a dude emailed me his tight abs portfolio. Made me think, I need to do some sit ups to compete with the dude. So I didn't find anyone, then my girlfriend suggested I goto Hooters and the malls. Me and her went to hooters one night to case the joint. There were some decent looking black girls. They had the look, but didn't have the full package with what I was looking for. So yesterday I went to the 2nd mall and finally saw someone who worked in one of the stores. I talked to her and she turned me down, but she said her co-worker is actually a Greek and familiar with the Greek Show next week!! I felt like it was meant to be. She accepted and Friday she will be helping me. Now I need a 2nd girl. I was strugglin for some reason with trying to think of a hot black girl that I personally knew. Then it hit me. I then texted someone who I use to work with. And she said yes too. So I have my events models set for the Greek Show.
My Bamajam Posting
My Bamajam posting on craigslist went very fast. This lady named Pam said she had someone for me. So we went back and forth with emails and I kept asking for a Portfolio of these chicks. After several emails, she never sent me any. So I started thinking, these girls are probably not that attractive and missin "teef". Right when i thought that, not too long after that she finally sent me pics. I was like OMG.... are you foe real? I replied immediately and had to get one of them. They were all attractive but this one seem to have a lil more swagger. She's going to be a great PiLLOOHS Girl.
Before the mall
It was pretty cool, someone from craigslist who saw my events model posting emailed me and said they wanted a few shirts. So she was cool enough to meet me in person and she bought some shirts from me. She was pretty Ambitious and lots of stuff going on in her life. Hope to see her soon....she said she wanted a PiLLOOHS Pizza shirt. Cuz we have the best pizza dough that is "firmly" rolled and kneaded.
Disappointment for the day
After meeting with that girl yesterday, I was suppose to pickup my tank tops designs. The guy said he is running behind and needs to push it out til monday. So that sucked. Oh well.
Summary & Facebook....
So I posted for events models on craigslist, I picked up my butterflies shirts, cased out some Hooters, walked around the malls, met a craigslist person to sell some shirts to and finally did the Facebook blasting to all my friends to "like" my site on friday. I guess everyone has been too busy or lazy to "like" my page cuz I only have a few people right now that has liked it. We'll see if my friends finally see the invite and take 5 seconds of their time to click a "thumbs up" picture.
